Urethral sounding (cock stuffing / penis plugging) can be a very rewarding experience if done properly and is more popular than you probably realize. By using penis plugs or sounds you can stimulate both the inside and the outside of the penis at the same time - how amazing could that be! If you are new to all this then this quick beginners guide should get you going - do remember though, as with any thing invasive we are obliged to say a medical opinion should be sought first.

Which Penis Plug or Sound Should I Choose?

If you are new to all of this then you will probably be wanting something that is both small and smooth. A plug or sound with a well rounded and tapered tip helps allow for a gentle stretch as you ease your chosen penis plug or urethral sound through your meatus and into your urethra. There are a lot of more extreme styles of penis plugs that will provide a good deal more sensation but it would be best to keep away from these until you are used to he sensations and are confident in your use before working your way up.

We think it's good idea to start with a penis plug that has a ring or an enlarged end on it so that it can't slip in and get lost - it also makes it easier to control and gives a sense of reassurance.

Material wise, stainless steel is the most common but you will also find aluminium and silicone urethral sounds and penis plugs too; all these materials are body safe and can withstand repeated sterilisation.

Most penis plugs will not stay in your urethra once inserted, especially those that are straight and smooth so don't expect to be able to walk around with a penis plug inserted, it's not going to happen; If you want the plug to stay in then you will want to try a penis plug with an attached glans or penis ring or if you have a PA then perhaps a Prince's wand that can be held in with a pin.

Curved sounds like the Hegar can be used when flacid, but if you are going to be using a sound or plug while erect then it is best to be using straight ones.

Be Safe

Cleanliness first, you really don't want to experience an infection!

  1. First things first, sterilise your penis plug or urethral sound in boiling water for at least 3-5 minutes
  2. After you've fished it out of the water, keep it in something clean and then wipe with alcohol swabs just before use
  3. Make sure everything is clean, this includes your penis and your hands - washing your hands with hot water and using an anti-bacterial soap would be a good thing. If you want to be extra cautious you can wear surgical gloves

Lubricants

You really should only use a sterile lubricant. We would generally recommend a water based lubricant as it is easy to clear up and will disperse but can dry out making it more difficult to remove a plug if it is being worn for an extended time. If you are wearing a plug for a longer time then silicone-based lubes are longer lasting but some people find silicone-based lubes to be a bit harder to clean up. It can also be a bit of personal preference - where one lube may cause a bit of stinging another one may not.

Saliva really isn't recommended as a lubricant because it dries quickly and also sugars from the mouth can be found in saliva that may cause urinary tract infections (UTIs). Sugars also can be found in some types of lube, sometimes listed as glycerine in the list of ingredients.

GO SLOW!

As long as you're careful and start off slow, your first sounding experience should go smoothly, just remember to use plenty of lube and relax.

If you are starting with hegar sounds then find the largest size that you can put into your urethral with a minimum of resistance and no feeling of stretching. Using the very thinest one is not necessarily the best place to start as being so thin there is a chance that you could accidentally do yourself a damage.

You don't need to and you must not force a sound or plug down.  You should be starting with a straight and smooth plug or sound and once this is lubricated then it should just slip in, forcing a plug or sound in could cause you to tear the skin and you don't want to be doing that.

Once you've mastered something slim and want to start using larger plugs or sounds, you’ll likely need to use more gentle force to insert the sound or push it further in. In the first instance this may be uncomfortable, you may feel some pressure or even a slight a burning sensation and this is fairly normal. What you DON’T want is any sharp pain or the feeling that one spot in particular is hurting, especially at the tip of the sound, this is a big warning sign from your body and you need to listen to this and stop before you do yourself a damage.

Enjoy!

Once you have your sound or plug in place and you're comfortable with it, then you can experiment with either light gentle strokes on your penis or simply sliding the sound or plug in and out.

If this gets you excited and you are ready to cum, then if you're using a hollow penis plug your ejaculate will simply come out the end without a second thought. However, if you are using urethral sounds or a solid penis plug then we'd recommend that you slide them out gently just prior ejaculation.

If you are using a sound with a defined curve on it then you'll probably need to wait until you erection has subsided before removing it.

Expect:

Don't panic, but be aware that there is a good chance you’ll have a slight burning when you pee for a few hours (or even a day or two if you are particularly sensitive) afterwards -  this is normal, as is the possiblity of a bit of blood, particularly when you’re new to sounding.

However, If you have a discharge, fever, or cramping, seek medical attention. Also, if you know you are prone to urinary tract infections, this may not be the best form of play for you.

Moving Further:

If you want to take sounding deeper then you'll probably find that you need to experiment a bit in order to find the right angle of your penis to your body for the urethral passage to be open to sounding once past the base of your penis. You also may find in the case of curved sounds like the Hegar sounds, that the sound will rotate around its axis to continue deeper.

You generally don’t have to worry about a sound entering the bladder (which you really do NOT want to do) as long as you don’t push hard against the sound once it hits resistance while it's deep in. You can always check how deep the sound is by feeling for the end along the perineum between your legs .
